On Sunday. Why are you still in Sodom?

John 3:16. For God so loved the world that HE gave his only SON……

Genesis 19. The story of Lot and his family.

The book of Genesis 19. talks about the story of the two angels that visited Lot while he was in Sodom. The book also reveals to us several occurrences particularly dealing with perverted sexual practices by the Sodomites especially after the angels had accepted the invitation to Lot’s house.

The angels visited Lot amid sin. That time, Lot and her children, together with the wife were bound in sin. They were living in a sinful environment. Their minds were full of corruption owed to sin. Homosexuality, incest, Lesbianism and all the rest. They were living in luxury, a pleasant life and environment that satisfied their bodily desires. They were also full of pride. No reverence for God. It may be no wonder that Lot’s wife remembered her luxurious property and looked back when she had been instructed not to look back. Her heart was attached to wealth, property and investment made while in Sodom. She may have also forgotten the reverence and obedience she needed to hold for God and obey instructions. She became a pillar of salt. Dead.

Genesis 19: 4-7 reveals to us the lust that men of the city of Sodom were harbouring. They wanted to make love and engage in sexual activities with the two angels that had visited Lot. That was very unwelcoming, an abuse of the highest order in God’s kingdom affairs and an ominous attempt that nobody who’s spiritual and sober would ever like to try.

Well, let’s get the point here…..

As long as Lot was still in Sodom, sin prevailed. God wanted Lot out of Sodom, a reason why he sent the two angels. Sadly speaking, Lot was found as the gatekeeper of Sodom. He was in the business. He was right in the middle of the business. He had conformed to the culture of Sodom.

Abraham loved Lot. He interceded to God for Lot and his family. God was faithful, so he sent the two angels to bring salvation to Lot and his family. Initially the angels had refused to enter Lot’s house but after petition by Lot in an earnest manner, the angels accepted.

Right now as you are reading this sermon, where are you? Are you still in Sodom? Why are you still in Sodom? Meditate on this teaching and answer these questions.

If you are still in Sodom, it’s never too late. God can send angels to rescue you. God is faithful. Even as intercessors in the world today pray for you, God is listening. He will sent angels to carry you up and out (Psalm 91) of Sodom. God never fails to listen to anyone who prays to him.

Sodom represents our lust of the flesh. Our desire to live luxurious. I am not condemning luxury but it should not be the order of the day so that God doesn’t have a place in our hearts. We shouldn’t be led by what we see and think about. We shouldn’t stay in sin. We shouldn’t make life look good outside when inside, all is not well. We should be true to our hearts as well as the heart of God. That’s when only God can accept us.

When the demands of the flesh override our spiritual hood, then we are no longer in Jerusalem but in Sodom. Many people are bound in homosexuality, Lesbianism, gay and all other forms of indulgences. They can’t come out. It’s hard for them, just the way it was hard for Lot to come out. Many of us are still in Sodom. It’s not surprising also that many of us who even go to church today are still bound in Sodom. Going to church is one thing. Knowing and understanding what God requires of you is another thing.

It’s my prayer that we come out of Sodom and see the salvation of God.

This Sunday, make up your mind not to be driven by flesh. Be spiritual. Take the faith and face the battle of the flesh and tell yourself that enough is enough.  May God help you and me.

God bless you so much.

The three monsters: Fear, Doubt and Despondency.

#fear#

Talk about fear. At some point, all of us have had it.

It’s not the problem of fear. It’s the problem of not overcoming fear.

Fear is a disease. It can progress into a monster called coward.

Fear can make someone miss an opportunity. Fear causes retreat and procrastination; a state of delay to take action. Fear is for the coward.

Because of fear, many talents have ended up in the graves. Graves are the best hub ever of wealth that was not brought into use by those deceased.

When you fear, you invite a state of hopelessness and complexity in seeing the success side of a story. You feel comfortable not to try anything; and this is usually the opposite of any expectation under normal circumstances.

Even while on smooth road, fear makes you see a rough road.

#Doubt#

Whenever you doubt whether you can do something or not, then be sure that you can’t.

Never and never will you succeed if you are full of doubt.

DOUBT kicks you OUT of the game.

Because of doubt, you sink in an ocean even when the waves are calm.

Doubt brings your parachute down in an unexplainable manner. You fall with a thud!

Instead of doubt, develop confidence. Think of possibility instead of impossibility.

#Despondency#

In any hopeless situation, learn to hold on positive thoughts.

You lose focus when you become despondent. You face doom. You create room for weird resolutions.

Despondency is despair, a state of lawlessness on what best decision to hold on during night times or dark moments so to say.

Despondency is a monster. It should not dominate your life at all. Live positively, think positively and face challenges positively.

Sometimes we fail to be strong during adversity. Right. Human nature attached to this fact. But remember God’s nature as well. The best practice we require in order to drive away these three monsters is to be able to choose God’s nature over human nature and especially in adversity.

Lightning can strike, a landslide can bury millions of us, an earthquake can rock buildings even when we are inside, fire can rage and raze over a hairy forest, locusts can locate a plantation and swarm through, a disease can wipe generations…….and much more.

That’s fine. It happens. But I believe it depends on our courage. I mean the courage to live life amid circumstances. The courage to sleep in bed with enough faith that we shall wake up alive the next day.

That’s life.

On Sunday. Hold me in your arms Lord.

# a song by Benard Chinua

Oh Lord my God, my savior,

You are my refuge, my cover.

My Lord is my power, and my tower.

My only arm and my wing.

Chorus

When tempests fall, HIM I call,

He flies down, holds me up, and I soar,

Below I see my enemies roar,

But in HIS arms I am safe, all in all.

Search me God, know me,

Make me yours, just me.

Le me stay in your armpit, let me.

Le me be under your shadow, me.

Chorus.

Hold me in your arms Lord X 3

For with you, my life is spared.

God bless everyone. Happy Sunday.

You are not a failure but a success in waiting.

#failureinlife#

#successstories#

You are not a failure when you fail to achieve your goal.

You are not a failure when you fail the second test. In fact you are a success in waiting. Try again.

Success stories carry element of failure at several points before they become realistic.

The best tarmac road towards success passes through rough road, winds up and down towards broken bridge before leveling up to tarmac.

Chinua….

The art of living life.

Life can be simple…when you decide to simplify it. It can also be complicated…of course when you try to complicate it. So, your life and current situation depends on the side you have chosen to stand.

It’s always best to live life to its fullest amid negatives, misfortunes or misery. Pursue the road towards happiness and explore the possibilities of making life a bliss. This way, you may discover that most of your fears and negative beliefs  that you held on for long were a fallacy.

Learn to live joyfully. Live like today is your last day on earth. Enjoy life as if you have never incurred any pain. Be happy until everyone imagines that you have never been sad in your life. Decide to love without holding back any feeling; neither grudgingly. Be yourself. Decide that you are not going to be miserable again. Talk to the person looking at you in the mirror every morning or evening. Let them know that you are a different person now.

There are five things that you need to part with starting this day. Be rational.

Habits that don’t pay.

Change your thinking starting today. Be the driver of your life. Stay positive. Don’t allow circumstances to drive you. When the sun becomes too hot, take a nap under a shade. When the rain becomes too much, run outside the house joyfully and start dancing in the rain. Nobody will see your tears. The rain washes them away.

Look around…for every moment you breathe, there’s something to appreciate.

Good will…

A sign of good will is a sign of good Faith. Good Faith has a spiritual foundation aspect that rests every deed on a pleasing and welcoming platform.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose. A life of purpose is a life governed by good will. It’s also a life woven into a bag of love. There’s no happiness without good will.

For us to achieve best results in this world, exercise of good will is required. A wise person practises and maintains good will at all times.

God has good will. This is because HE forgives, HE cares, HE redeems, HE blesses, HE gives and takes. It’s an ordinance that we emulate HIM at whatever cost.
