On Sunday. Nothing but Prayer.

Luke 11:2- 4

Our father who is in heaven,

Hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins;

For we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us.

And lead us not into temptation;

But deliver us from evil.

(King James Version)

Acts 2: 42….and they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in PRAYERS. King James Version.

Prayer is very important. Nothing can be compared to prayer. Nothing.

Unfortunately, it is the last option on the list of quite a number of us in terms of priority.

Prayer is the earthy license. It authorizes our way to God. It opens doors by force, moves mountains into the sea and causes the enemy to flee.

Most of us have a phrase on our lips…’we are together in Prayer’. But is it practically true? Honestly, that is usually a lip service, from experience. Most people mention that term prayer but have not had a chance to understand it practically.

Jesus taught us how to pray in Luke 11. He emphasized on the following in the prayer that he taught us;

  • Our Father (God).
  • The kingdom of God.
  • The will of God.
  • Earth and heaven.
  • Daily bread.
  • Forgiveness of sin and temptation.
  • Deliverance.

Our Father (God)

When we pray, our father in heaven listens to us. It’s only through prayer that we can reach our Father.

We pray to the Father through Christ Jesus. Christ is the way, the truth and life. He came to give us life in abundance (John 10:10).

The Kingdom of God.

The kingdom of God is eternal. Endless. Infinite. No end.

When you seek the kingdom of God before anything else, then you shall have everything you need in life (Matthew 6:33).

When you have everything but without the kingdom of God, then you have nothing. You are an empty vessel.

The will of God.

We need to be in God’s will. God’s agenda. That’s why we can’t forfeit prayer. The will of God is eternal and the will is that we prosper and be able to know the mighty things God has kept for us in the spiritual store (Jeremiah 33:3).

Earth and Heaven.

The earth and heaven was created by God. So we worship and pray to him (Psalm 24), (Psalm 19). We only appreciate the nature of God through Prayer.

Daily bread

When the Lord gives us his daily bread, he gives us life of the spirit. The daily bread is his word. When we speak his word through prayer, he grants us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).

Forgiveness of sin and temptation

We are only forgiven when we ask the holy spirit to petition for us. Christ forgives. But we ought to pray to him to grant us the forgiveness of sin. Sin destroys our body mind and soul.

If one hasn’t been delivered from a tormenting spirit, he becomes a slave to that spirit. He can’t overcome that spirit. Fasting and prayer can deliver one from that tormenting spirit. Evil spirits fear God’s spirit,and they fear people who pray.

Without prayer, even a nation perishes.

The only weapon suitable for warfare is prayer.

When we pray, we become prosperous in life.

When we don’t pray, God doesn’t become part of our lives. We therefore quench his spirit.

God’s wrath is established on people who don’t pray.

Anxiety and stress flee when we pray.

Thank you and have a wonderful Sunday.
